Principal’s Pad
We’ve had a wonderful beginning to school! The children seem happy and engaged, and we are thrilled to
begin a new year with them! Just a few important announcements:
- Please check each grade level website for the specialist schedule. PE day requires sneakers!
- If you have not yet sent in your Regular Daily Dismissal Plan OR your child will be dismissed in a different way than on the plan, please send in a note on the day of the change listing your child’s name, teacher, your phone number, how he or she will get home, and the phone number of anyone picking your child up. Please understand that we need your plans confirmed every year.
- Just a reminder to book your babysitters now! Back to School night is an adult-only night and is coming up on Thursday, September 24.
- This is a LONG Labor Day weekend. Students do not attend school on Friday, September 4 or Monday, September 7. All students, including full day Kindergarten students, will attend a full day on Tuesday, September 8.
- If you plan to volunteer at any time, you must have an up-to-date criminal background check (CORI). These are good for three years. If you are unsure if yours is still valid, contact Erin Collins. CORI’s must be submitted in person, so that we can check your identity and make a copy of your license. You can do this during the day or at Back to School Night.
- There will be no snacks served in the cafeteria for several weeks as we adjust to our new cafeteria procedures. Beginning on September 21, snacks will be sold to second through fifth graders whose parents send extra money for this purpose. New this year: Students may ONLY purchase ONE snack. This is to encourage eating of the food you provide and to avoid sharing or selling of snacks, which is not allowed by our food policy.
- Please park ONLY in designated parking spots. Please do not allow your child to exit the car in the parking lot, but wait until you get to the adult on duty to release your child at drop off.
- Please return the packets you received yesterday by Friday, September 11. All grade levels where 95% of packets are returned by this date will receive an extra recess. This information is critical to our ensuring your child’s safety and supporting them at school.
Thank you for your support. We look forward to working with you this year. If you have an questions or concerns, please feel free to call or email. Beginning September 21, I will also hold an open hour for quick drop-ins with parents from 9-10 a.m.
